On the standard economy class seats of ZIPAIR Tokyo’s Boeing 787, there’s a small step installed on the side of the seat to help check the overhead stowage bin. However, with the mirror in place, I no longer need to step up—I can easily see the bottom of the stowage bin, which is incredibly convenient.
In my previous role, I used to work on Airbus A320, which didn’t have the mirrors. Every time, I had to climb onto the step and lean over to check inside the bin. It was quite a hassle.
For the ZIP Full-Flat seat, which is equivalent to a business class seat and doesn’t have a step due to its wider design, the mirror becomes even more valuable. Since we wear sneakers as part of our uniform, they’re not the easiest to slip on and off quickly—so being able to check the compartment without stepping up is a big help.
